Reflections on a New Season

As I write my first article as CSI President for the June/July edition of the Shofar, I know the so-called “dog days of summer” will soon be upon us.  The top three things associated with summer according to a Yahoo voter poll are “heat, bugs and beach”! All good answers indeed!  Yet even while we might be able to enjoy some well deserved summer relaxation, perhaps a bit of travel, and other warmer weather fun with family and friends…time does not stand still.  At Congregation Sha’arey Israel, this season always brings the addition of some new members to the Board of Governors team, the start of planning for the next Religious School year even though the last one just ended, the collaborative process to create a new Calendar – Directory, and of course… the inevitable look ahead to prepare for the High Holidays.  Ideas and vision become tangible realities to enhance our collective shul experience due to the committed involvement of so many individuals.  Thanks so very much for all you do to make religious services and education, special events, fundraising, and so much more at CSI happen all throughout the year to benefit each of us.

Our first major fundraising effort of the year kicks off shortly with our annual Calendar – Directory Sales Team swinging into gear in the weeks to come. Your first time purchase or renewal of a personal or business ad, as well as birthday and anniversary listings help ensure that good things keep happening at Congregation Sha’arey Israel!  Please keep the synagogue close to your heart with your continued attendance, volunteerism and commitment.  Thank you in advance for your support as we embark on the 2015 – 2016 season together. Enjoy the summer, stay hydrated and don’t forget the sunscreen!

See you in shul!
