Dear CSI Congregants,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!
What a strange fall/winter it’s been so far. We’ve had warmer weather some days morphing into the colder weather that we expect in this part of the year. Perhaps the unpredictability of our temperatures works to keep us on our toes, reminding us to be flexible in our expectations of others and ourselves. At this time of the year, we can get very busy, so it’s important to find time to relax and just enjoy. And also, let’s find ways to encourage others in our lives to do the same.
Speaking of enjoyment, it’s hard to be believe that Hanukkah, or Chanukah, as some spell it, is coming up soon. In just a few weeks, on December 14th at 5 pm, we will light the Downtown Macon menorah and celebrate with a Hanukkah dinner in our social hall. It will be great fun! Andthat’s only the start: at 6 pm on December 15th, Milledgeville will have a public menorah lighting and on December 20th at 7 pm, our members and friends in the Perry area will have theirs.
Of course, we want everyone to have a wonderful Hanukkah, whether it includes gifting, charitable work, or whatever individuals and families choose to do. While we’re celebrating, let’s remember to bring non-perishable foods to shul for our Daybreak container in the lobby. Finally, a special Mazel Tov to Morgan Bernstein and her family as she becomes a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, December 6th!
Shalom,
Jan and Michael
