Your People Shall Be My People

The custom of reading the Scroll of Ruth on Shavuot — beginning on Saturday night, June 8th — goes back a great many centuries. A Moabite woman was embraced by kindness and love, and she would become King David’s great grandmother. Faith and perseverance and Hope, sweet redemption. Here at shul we’ll bring in Shavuot a few hours early, with a quick mincha/ma’ariv & (tradition!!) cheesecake ;).

On a personal note of welcome — Katalyn Raz, Jeff Zablow’s wife, is scheduled to complete her journey to Judaism a couple of days before Shavuot. It’s my honor and pleasure to invite you all to celebrate this festival of Torah with the newest member of our family, mazal tov to Katalin, whose very first aliyah will be in the shadow of Shavuot, z’man matan Torateinu, the Time of the Giving of Torah
