Board of Education News for March

We began the month of February with our annual Passover Candy Sale. Thank you to Pam Hill for spearheading this small but meaning- ful fundraiser. We appreciate all of our congregation members who responded to our Phonathon, and very generously bought candy and supported our school. The candy will arrive soon!

Happy Birthday Trees! At Rockin’s Shabbat on February 10th students decorated mini clay pots and planted seeds of parsley for TuB’Shevat. Thanks to the Crabtree’s for overseeing the evening and providing the delicious Shabbat dinner. Thanks to all who helped with the craft, and to Rabbi Aaron and Miss Sharona for helping with the puppet show and service. Thanks also to our teens that come in to help! What great role models you are!

At Sunday School, on February 12th, we continued to celebrate TuB’Shevat with foods, crafts, and environmental awareness. Thank you to Trish and Ethan Hutten for the delicious array of foods for us to taste (some for the first time!), and for the bird feeder craft.

We also had two very special people come and see us on the 12th. Thanks to Pam Webster and Lara Geller for making the arrangements for us to meet two Bibb County Deputies and their Service Dogs. One of our Sunday School’s tzedakah projects this year is raising money for a service dog cause called The Israeli Guide Dog Organization. In keeping with that theme, we got to meet Deputy Mercer and his dog, “Beko”, and Deputy Irwin and his dog, “Athena.” Both dogs are service dogs and work to keep our community safe. “Beko” is a bomb sniffing dog, and “Athena” is a dog that sniffs out drugs. They each demonstrated their skills in finding hidden items.

Looking ahead, Purim is around the corner! Get your costumes out, and get ready to make some noise!
