We are very excited about the upcoming CSI Religious School year! The CSI Board of Education has met several times this summer to organ-ize and plan. Our wonderful teachers are onboard, and we want to express our appreciation to them for their dedication to the Jewish edu-cation of our children.
We were very well represented at the ISJL Education Conference this past June. Jennifer Bernstein, Chrissy Crabtree, Trish Hutten, and Lara Geller made the trip to Jackson, Mississippi, and enjoyed connecting with other Jewish communities, and attended programs and activities. The keynote speaker was Rabbi David Stern. Some of the programs presented included Teaching Southern Yiddishkeit, Engaging Teens, Teaching Hebrew Through Music, and Teaching Text Through Theater. We have a new ISJL Education Fellow, Mackenzie Haun. You will have the opportunity to meet her at Friday night services on August 17th. Come and say hello!
Our teacher’s planning day is Sunday, August 19th at CSI, and the first day of Sunday School is August 26th. Parents, students, teachers, and Board of Education members are all invited to attend the opening program on the 26th. We are back to weekday Hebrew School, and those first days are August 28th for those attending on Tuesdays, and August 29th for those attending on Wednesdays.
We look forward to seeing everyone and having a great year!
